PC hackers playing Battlefield 3 without Origin
Sehr schön so. Da braucht sich EA ja mal gar nicht zu wundern, dass das jetzt so schnell ging.
Origin hasn't exactly endeared itself to players since launch, what with its sleazy EULAs and enforced nature. Some wily hackers have had their fill, and announced recently that they can circumvent Battlefield 3's mandatory Origin requirement.
"This release is dedicated to our fans worldwide who bought this game on [sic] legal way and don't want to install the trojan from Electronic Arts to play online," said hack group Razor1911. The hack is designed to liberate retail copies of the game, where Origin is still a mandatory download.
It's hardly surprising this has happened, and I find it hard to blame people for wanting ways around Origin. Electronic Arts is a company that simply should not be trusted in any capacity, and I can't fault people not wanting to install extra junk on their PCs in order to play a game they spent good money on.
EA has done nothing to earn consumer faith and I also don't think this is the first security issue that Origin will have. Does anybody believe EA knows enough about running a digital distribution service to keep sensitive data safe? I somehow doubt Origin is a tough nut to crack.
