Wii Motion Plus: Über 600.000 Einheiten in Japan verkauft

Es wurde bereits berichtet, wie gut sich Wii Sports Resort verkauft. Nun gibt es auch erste Zahlen der Zusatzperipherie Wii Motion Plus.
Der erste Durchverkauf von WM+ endete bei 290.000 Einheiten; kombiniert mit Wii Sports Resort beläuft sich die Gesamtzahl der verkauften Peripherien auf 600.000 (in Japan).

Zahlen aus Amerika und Europa werden sicherlich bald folgen.

Gehirn Jogging: Bestverkauftes Videospiel aller Zeiten in Großbritannien

Den neuen Daten der ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack kann man nun entnehmen, dass von Dr. Kawashima's Gehirn Jogging für den Nintendo DS mehr als 3 Mio. Exemplare in Großbritannien verkauft wurden.

Damit ist die Gehirnjogging-Software das erfolgreichste Spiel aller Zeiten auf der Insel.

Die Meldung kam, als ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack die zehn bestverkauften Titel der ersten Jahreshälfte 2009 suchte; diese besteht aus Titeln, die fast alle von Nintendo stammen.

Gehirn Jogging erreichte in diesen Charts Platz 7.

Bericht vom Dragon Quest IX-Verkaufsstart in Japan

Square Enix hat gestern das Rollenspiel Dragon Quest IX in Japan ausgeliefert, über dessen Verkaufsstart die Famitsu berichtet.

Yodobashi Camera in Shinjuku, Tokio

Morgens um 05:30 Uhr warteten bereits etwa 25 Kunden vor Yodobashi Camera. Um 07:00 Uhr wuchs die Warteschlange auf 160 Leute an. Daher machte Yodobashi Camera schon etwas früher auf, so dass um kurz vor 07:00 Uhr die ersten Kunden in den Laden gehen konnten.

Der Verkauf ging zügig voran, so dass ein Kunde nur rund zehn Minuten anstehen und warten musste. Um 07:15 Uhr kamen immer mehr RPG-Fans zu Yodobashi Camera: über 150 Leute warteten schließlich um 07:15 Uhr vor der Filiale. Eine Stunde nach Ladenöffnung sollen ca. 400 bis 500 Kunden Dragon Quest IX gekauft haben - das wäre in etwa dieselben Menge wie damals im selben Zeitraum beim Verkaufsstart von Dragon Quest VIII.

Die meisten Kunden hatten laut Verkäuferaussagen das Spiel aber vorbestellt, so dass viele Kunden im Laufe des Tages oder erst in den Abendstunden kamen.

Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara, Tokio

Der erste Kunde kam um 04:30 Uhr zu Yodobashi Camera. Er sagt, dass er Dragon Quest seit dem ersten Teil gespielt hat. Um 05:30 Uhr warteten etwa 30 Leute vor dem Laden. Der Verkauf begann dann um 07:00 Uhr.

Außer dem Spiel war besonders der rote Nintendo DSi bei den Kunden sehr beliebt, und in weniger als einer Stunde wurden etwa 1.000 Einheiten von Dragon Quest IX verkauft.

Über 2,3 Mio. Dragon Quest IX verkauft

Von dem Rollenspiel Dragon Quest IX von Square Enix wurden 2.343.440 Einheiten an zwei Tagen nach Veröffentlichung am 11.07.09 in Japan verkauft (Zeitraum: 11.07.09 - 12.07.09). Das hat Famitsu-Herausgeber Enterbrain ermittelt, die Durchverkaufsrate lag bei 81,56 Prozent.

Damit ist Dragon Quest IX erfolgreicher gestartet als damals Dragon Quest VIII (PS2), das sich in der ersten Woche 2.237.000 Mal in Japan verkauft hatte.

The video games industry realized a significant decline when compared to June 2008, the fourth consecutive month of year-over-year declines. The first half of the year has been tough largely due to comparisons against a stellar first half performance last year, but still, this level of decline is certainly going to cause some pain and reflection in the industry.

Because the question invariably arises, this month saw the greatest year-over-year monthly decline since September 2000 when the industry declined 41% .

Even with the industry down 12% year-to-date, with a strong back-half performance, full year sales could still be flat to slightly up to 2008's record-breaking performance. Of course, that could be put further at risk if more highly anticipated titles move out of 2009 into 2010 or later.

Our latest gamer segmentation study suggests that more than 4 million new 'players' have entered the games market since last year, so certainly the decline isn't due to less folks participating in the industry . Some of these are new retail consumers and some are playing online for free, and others are a mix of both. The trick is to continue to figure out how to monetize all the gaming that is going on across PC, mobile devices, and video game systems. Certainly there is plenty of opportunity in the industry, but the rate of change in many areas of the industry presents a lot of challenge as well .

This is one of the first months where I think the impact of the economy is clearly reflected in the sales numbers. While the aggregate of content may not be as strong as what we saw in the first half of last year, and while the consumer base willing to spend dollars on hardware at the current price points may be thinning, the size of the decliine could also point to consumers deferring limited discretionary spending until a big event (must-have new title, hardware price cut) compels them to spend.


The Xbox 360 is the only platform to have realized a unit sales increase over last June. YTD, both the 360 and NDS have generated an increase in unit sales. Although many track month-to-month sales changes, comparisons to May must take into account that June is a five-week reporting month while May spanned four weeks.

While Wii sales are down from last year, the platform is still realizing very strong sales month after month. Compared against historical performance of other systems this far into the console lifecycle, the unit sales performance is still strong.


Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 had a great debut at retail, nearly doubling the units sold in the first month at market of the previous best-two launches: PGA Tour '05 and '07, which sold 272K units each in their respective launch months . No doubt a combination of moving the release date of the game out of "Madden Month" into June where golf was heavily televised due to the U.S. Open as well as well-received new game features and attributes helped contribute to this success.

Interestingly, this is the first month since its launch at retail 29 months ago that Wii Play has not been featured in the top 10 list for the month. That's an astonishing record for this industry.

Prototype was the top selling title for the month, realizing roughly 600K units at retail across the two platforms. While this is solid performance for new IP, it's a relatively modest sales figure for any game capturing the top spot for the month.

While some of the decline in retail sales could be a migration on the part of consumers to acquiring content via digital distribution, our reports on downloads and subscriptions reveal that it's not yet having enough impact on the console market to be an overly meaningful factor in the retail down-turn. That said, there are increasing avenues for consumers to game, including via mobile devices, and it's clear the industry is sorting through how to manage all these opportunities while deploying resources appropriately.

Battlefield 1943 stellt Verkaufsrekord auf

Electronic Arts gibt bekannt, dass Battlefield 1943 das sich am schnellsten verkaufende, herunterladbare Spiel auf Xbox Live weltweit ist; dieser Verkaufsrekord betrifft den ersten Tag und die erste Woche der Veröffentlichung.

Für die selben beiden Zeiträume ist Battlefield 1943 auch im PlayStation Network der PS3 das sich am schnellsten verkaufende Spiel zum herunterladen in den USA.

Insgesamt wurden mehr als 600.000 Einheiten des Shooters auf Xbox Live und im PlayStation Network seit der Veröffentlichung am 08.07.09 verkauft.

Sony im Mittleren Osten

Jim Ryan, Co-Chief Operating Officer von Sony Computer Entertainment in Europa, sprach mit der Website Emirates Business über den Wachstum von sich entwickelnden Märkten und das potenzielle Wachstum des Videospielemarktes im Allgemeinen.

Hier einige seiner Aussagen:

Die Verkäufe im Mittleren Osten, Teilen Asiens und Afrika waren unverhältnismäßig stark, besonders in der Mai-, Juni- und Juliperiode.

Es haben sich dieses Jahr ungefähr 20.000 bis 25.000 Playstation 3-Geräte in Entwicklungsländern verkauft; 80% davon im Mittleren Osten.

Den Daten Sonys entsprechend, ist der gesamte Spielemarkt im Mittleren Osten, Software und Hardware zusammengerechnet, fast $750 Mio. wert, während für Sony vom großen Kuchen etwa $250 Mio. abfallen.

Tim Stokes, der Director für Verkäufe und Marketing von Sony, fügte dem noch hinzu:

Wir wollen ein paar Spiele herausbringen, die Wert auf den sozialen Aspekt legen. Da wäre z. B. der Launch von Singstar in Arabien in arabischer Sprache, wo Nutzer online kommen und daran teilnehmen können.

Die Zurechtschneidung von Inhalten wird recht einfach sein, wenn dieses Konzept erst einmal gefestigt ist.

Monster Hunter 3 bricht neuen Rekord auf der Wii!

Wie man nun von Capcom erfahren hat, wurden bereits eine Millionen Exemplare von Monster Hunter 3 an den Händler ausgeliefert und es sollen noch weitaus mehr Exemplare verschickt werden. Monster Hunter 3 bricht somit den Rekord der Dritthersteller mit den meistausgelieferten Exemplaren vor dem Releasetermin.

Das Spiel erscheint diesen Samstag in Japan.

Nintendo: Weltweite Hardware-Verkaufszahlen

Nintendo gab heute auch die weltweiten Verkaufszahlen der Wii und des DSi seit ihrer Einführung im Jahre 2006 bzw 2009 bekannt.

Demnach konnte sich die Wii 52.62 Mio Mal verkaufen, während es der DSi in seiner kurzen Zeit auf dem Markt bereits auf stolze 6.68 Mio Einheiten bringt. Insgesamt kommen DS, DS lite und DSi auf Gesamtverkaufszahlen von 107.75 Mio Stück.

Capcom will 2,7 Mio. Lost Planet 2 verkaufen

Von Lost Planet 2 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) will Capcom 2,7 Mio. Einheiten weltweit verkaufen, wenn der Shooter in diesem Geschäftsjahr (01.04.09 - 31.03.10) auf den Markt kommt. Diese Schätzung teilt Capcom in einem Geschäftsbericht mit.

5 Mio. Resident Evil 5 verkauft

Capcom gibt bekannt, dass von Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360) insgesamt 5 Mio. Einheiten verkauft wurden (Stand: 30.06.09). Das Spiel kam am 13.03.09 in Europa auf den Markt.

Während im letzten Geschäftsjahr (01.04.08 - 31.03.09) 4,4 Mio. Stück verkauft wurden, konnte Capcom im 1. Quartal (01.04.09 - 30.06.09) des laufenden Jahres nochmals 600.000 Stück absetzen; insgesamt will Capcom in diesem Jahr nochmals 800.000 Stück verkaufen.

Capcom hat von Bionic Commando (PS3, Xbox 360) weltweit 550.000 Einheiten verkaufen können (Stand: 30.06.09). Das geht aus einem Geschäftsbericht des Publishers hervor, das Spiel kam am 22.05.09 in Europa in den Handel.
