Neko Entertainment's first Cocoto game for WiiWare was a disappointment, as flawed motion controls marred what could have been an enjoyable fishing design for Nintendo's download service. The character's other outings on the Big N's current console have fared better, though, and while none of them have been either extraordinary or particularly novel they've at least found a place with the budget-minded Wii audience. Cocoto Platform Jumper clocks in a similar experience, as a design that can't be considered all that great thanks to its limited scope and somewhat stiff controls, but is still fairly fun for what it is. At an asking price of 700 Wii Points, I could see where fans of the character, and fans of character-based platformers in general, could find a decent amount of enjoyment here.

The aim of the game is simple: smash your opponents off the stage as often as possible. Each arena is based on a familiar Nintendo game - complete with classic music, sounds and power-ups! And each character has their own trademark special moves and weapons, such as Link’s Master Sword swipe, Yoshi’s tongue slurp or Fox McCloud’s trusty Blaster. Read More »

Icarian: Kindred Spirits tells the awesome story of Nyx, an enigmatic winged girl, who must descend from heaven in search of her missing friend Icarus. Fly over the ruins of ancient Greece and avoid falling into blazing sands or perishing in the claws of cruel harpies and hydras. You’ll need the help of Zeus and other benevolent gods from Olympus to summon their powers.

You control the action with Wii Remote, by using easy, intuitive movements that will enable you to cast rays, modify the scenery and control winds at your wish. Fly, aim and shoot using the new and fullest potential of your Wii Remote. You can also play with a friend and maximise your abilities - while one controls Nyx, the other will control the powers from the Gods.

So it really does just come down to you, and your personal preferences for games like Wii Sports. It'd be very easy to take the cynical route with Let's Catch, throw it under the bus with a horrible review score and say something like "Go outside with a real baseball instead." But I'm sure you'll have ample opportunity to read write-ups like that elsewhere on the Internet. Here, I'll take the opposite stance and recommend you give Let's Catch a chance if you feel that, if it were included in a compilation like Wii Sports Resort, it would be an event you'd go back to again and again.

It's a very simple design, yes. It's priced much higher than it should be, at 1000 Wii Points. And it's not going to go down in the history of WiiWare as a game very well remembered or very highly regarded. But there's something unique and heartwarming about it -- something distinctly human about just playing catch. And it makes me very curious to see where Prope, Sega and Yuji Naka take things from here.

In Puzzle Bobble you are presented with a bunch of bubbles suspended from the ceiling. You have to shoot additional bubbles at them from below - Once four bubbles of the same colour touch each other, they will fall down and be cleared. If you can clear a bunch of bubbles which act as last support for other bubbles below them, those will drop too - Therefore there is some strategy required.

In this fast-paced non-violent game, players can run around playgrounds and beaches and soak each other with squirt guns. With different types of guns, bonus items, and offline and online multiplayer, there’s tons of squirt gun fun to be had!

Run around using the Nunchuk and aim using the Wii Remote - it’s that simple, and there’s no violence! You can use squirt gun shotguns, rocket launchers and more, and can protect yourself with umbrellas, raincoats and more. Play online and soak up to eight friends! Read More »

There are seven total types of Water gun to use. Each type has its own unique attributes - certain weapons can be equipped in both hands, as well as ones that enable the player to snipe far-away opponents. In the main Mission Mode, you can take on six missions in the Training area, mainly to learn the controls, and eight missions per map for a total of 38 missions in all.

If you’re a veteran of the genre, then you may find enjoyment to be had in SimEarth. Everyone else would be well advised to think twice about delving into the game, as its overwhelming options and dated visuals can present a difficult to enjoy experience in the wrong hands. SimEarth is not a bad game, it just hasn’t aged very well. If you can get past that barrier then you may very well enjoy the unique ride provided.

On the whole, Altered Beast is a lame dog that should just be left to die. It hasn’t aged well at all, with horribly shallow gameplay that pales in comparison to Sega’s other classic 2D scrollers such as Shinobi, Golden Axe or Streets of Rage. Even the most hardcore of Sega fans will find it difficult to find much enjoyable in this two-dimensional slog.

Summing it up Bit Boy!! is a great concept for a game and it was interesting to see the interpretation of each gaming generation. The core gameplay in Bit Boy!! isn't terrible, but features serious flaws in the sheer volume of enemies on screen at one time and also the amount of life-sapping dead ends – a hallmark of poor game design. A game that uses a maze set up like that of Pac-Man should have levels which ensure that the player has a chance to avoid being unfairly wiped out, unfortunately Bit Boy!! does not manage to achieve this.

The game is also very short-lived too: with six different gaming generations one would think that there would be plenty of room for a pretty lengthy game, but unfortunately you can see everything that Bit Boy!! has to offer after just one hour's play. On the whole Bit Boy!! is a somewhat frustrating experience that we cannot wholeheartedly recommend.

Gradius ReBirth is a nice blast from the past, but its retro design and punishingly hard difficulty limits the appeal. The 16-bit graphics tickle my nostalgia bone, but I'd also like to see what a modern Gradius would look like on Wii. And we all like a challenge, but this game is really too hard. The main problem is that the classic Gradius ship, the Vic Viper, is utterly useless until you've powered it up. That makes starting at any of your mid-level checkpoints a real chore. I would rather fly a modern Viper that feels less sluggish. Finally, the lack of multiplayer, either cooperative or turn-based, is disappointing. There is fun to be had with Gradius ReBirth, but the audience of masochists who love 16-bit graphics might be modest.

If you're not lucky enough to be one of the owners of one of those copies, you would have been looking at spending a hefty chunk of cash to buy a legitimate edition before this past Monday -- but now, with the game available for download from the Wii Shop for just eight bucks, it's an incredible deal. If you're at all a fan of strategy titles like Fire Emblem, Shining Force, Advance Wars or any modern game with the word "Tactics" in its title, you owe it to yourself to check out one of the rarest and most respected entries into the genre from the 16-bit generation.

And, if we're lucky, this might only be the first Ogre Battle to see a VC re-release -- March of the Black Queen's sequel, Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber, is also an incredible game that could potentially appear in a future Wii-kly Update. So use your digital dollars to let Square Enix and Nintendo know there'd be an audience for that one too -- your reputation will go up if you do.

NOTE: Despite the Wii Shop stating that only the Classic Controller could be used to play Ogre Battle, it can also be played using a Gamecube controller.

http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/996/996766/5-spots-party-20090622015428634_640w.jpg
This development for Nintendo has placed special emphasis on playability through the Wii Remote, and a special mode was added for this platform that enables up to 4 players to compete.

The game is based on the popular pastime of finding differences between two photos. There are three different modes and different playing options for one or more players.

KEY FEATURES

The most relevant game features, which make 5 Spots Party so exceptional and addictive, are the following:

* For All Ages. Everyone can play. It is fun to play alone or in a group.
* Fun Photos. The photos are funny and varied, and the players can enjoy their content.
* Surprising mistakes. We have worked with over 6 different types of errors (shape, size, colour, arrangement, existence and distortion), and we have designed different difficulties. Many of the mistakes used boost the original photo.

* Number of Photos. The game consists of over 300 photographs of different subjects and types. From landscapes to drawings, as well as everyday shapes or scenes, the variety of the subjects has been a key point in the development of the game.

* Number of Mistakes. We have worked very hard to ensure a very long playing time and with very little repetition. To do so, we created special algorithms that make it nearly impossible to repeat the same differences in the same photo. The game includes 333 photos and, although we show just 5 differences in each one, internally we have developed up to 10 different mistakes that are displayed on-screen in very different ways.

* Simplicity. The player controls the game in just a few seconds. We have also designed a variety of features to boost playability. For example, the mistakes can be selected in either the left or right photo, the double cursor was enabled to make it easier to highlight the mistakes, and player aids have been implemented, such as controller vibration when the players are near mistakes.

Karate Phants is thankfully a rarity on the WiiWare service: a terribly executed game which uses a license that no one outside of the country of origin is likely to have even heard of. Abysmal controls and fatally broken gameplay combine together to form a game which doesn't appear to even have a target audience. It is hard to imagine how it is possible to make such a mess of creating a themed 2D fighting game with so many successful examples to draw on in the genre from gaming history -- Snap Dragon Games have excelled themselves in this department. There really isn’t anything to recommend about this shambling mockery of a game whatsoever, it is a complete waste of space

So, to me, Bomberman '94's arrival on the Virtual Console might just be a case of a missed window of opportunity. It's still a great game, it's just unfortunate that it took this long to arrive -- it could have had a much bigger impact if it released a year or two earlier. As it is, the people who want to play Bomberman on their Wii have probably already settled for the '93 edition, or invested in Blast on WiiWare.

In fact, I'd still recommend Blast even though this one's now available -- '94 here has a superior single player mode, but if you're playing Bomberman for its single player then you've got no business playing Bomberman to begin with. It took too long for you to get this one out the door, Hudson -- 28 months was way too long a wait. Grab a Speed Up for your VC publishing schedule next time around, and you may have better sales to show for it.

While the StarTropics series has certainly deserved more attention over the years and it appears that Mike Jones might never see another sequel, it is nice to finally have both of his NES adventures available for download in Virtual Console form. This sequel is just as engaging and fun as its predecessor, and its more accessible and less restrictive control style should be especially notable for those players who might have found Mike's strict movements frustrating the first time around.

For a total of ten bucks, it's a great idea to invest in the complete StarTropics experience on Virtual Console. Giving us the first game in the year's first update and the second in the last was a nice way to bookend 2008, Nintendo. Well done.

Unless you're out to get all Nintendo-published games available on Virtual Console, we don't see any reason for you to considering buying this garbage. The Wii already has plenty of ways to play table tennis - Multiple retail games feature it as minigame, and Rockstar even made an entire game based around it! We're all for import games on Virtual Console, but choosing to release this as one wasn't a very smart move!

It's easy to see why M.U.S.H.A. is still so highly regarded after almost two decades, as its visuals, gameplay and overall style must have felt well ahead of their time for players who got the chance to experience it first in 1990. Wii owners today, particularly shooter fans, would do well to give it a look here in 2009 for its 800 Wii Point (EU 900) asking price -- a price that's especially reasonable, as in addition to all the accolades listed above, M.U.S.H.A. is an incredibly rare and expensive game to try to track down and own in its original Genesis cartridge form. Virtual Console fans may continue to bemoan the lessened amount of new classic game releases each Monday on the download service, but if the all-by-themselves games selected continue to be as compelling as M.U.S.H.A., Nintendo can just keep them coming one at a time.

Neko Interactive's previous releases for Wii and WiiWare in the States have all been localizations of the Cocoto series -- you might remember Fishing Master and Platform Jumper from previous Wii Shop updates. Heracles Chariot Racing falls in the same line with those releases, as they too were PS2 retail titles turned WiiWare downloads in America. But Heracles actually ends up having more in common with a third Cocoto -- Cocoto Kart Racer, which got a physical disc release here last summer.

Like that game before it, Heracles is a capable, fun little kart racing design that certainly won't compete with Nintendo's Mario Kart series head-to-head, but is definitely worth a look as a budget-priced substitute or supplement to that flagship franchise. For just 800 Wii Points, you might want to give it a glance. It could have you cheering "Heracles! Heracles!" yourself.

It continues to be pretty easy to overlook any new shooters that arrive in the Wii Shop, as the genre's been over-represented on the Virtual Console for probably a solid two years now. But Detana!! TwinBee makes a strong case for your consideration despite its category -- it's never been available in America before, it's one of the most solid installments in a long-running and popular series, and it offers a co-operatively two-player mode that fans of Life Force in particular might not want to just dismiss right away.

Detana!!'s "Import" status makes its price one dollar more expensive than other Turbo titles, but anyone intrigued by the concepts of the game shouldn't be turned away by that extra buck. This import could end up being one of your new foreign favorites.

links = Ausweichbewegung nach links
rechts = Ausweichbewegung nach rechts
oben = Deckung hoch nehmen
unten = abducken
nichts drücken = Deckung gegen Körpertreffer
<Y> = Schlag mit links
<B> = Schlag mit rechts
<A> = Mächtiger Schlag
<A> <A> = Schneller Schlaghagel

Achso, also mit Bewegungen geht da nichts.
Also ich rate davon wirklich ab.

The Three Musketeers: One For All! is difficult to recommend without also reciting a litany of flaws, but, in the end, we feel that those flaws are forgiven by the many things this game gets just right. The art style is lovely, the platforming (overall) very fun, and the use of the camera is both satisfying and unique. With a few quirks ironed out this could have been a masterpiece worthy of the name Dumas. As it stands, its issues are difficult to ignore - and perhaps should not be ignored - but if you're looking for classic platforming action with a great deal of fun and personality, this game should not be missed.

Featuring twelve different tracks based on four themed environments – cityscape, hills, snow and a desert oasis – players can also select one of 32 vehicles from four categories. Each category is tailored for use within the different environments, with variations of speed, acceleration and handling and grip levels making specific vehicles ideal for particular locations. Driift Mania’s multi-player modes allow users to play using combinations of Wii Remotes, Nunchucks and Classic Controllers, and seven game modes are on offer. These range from the single-player and multi-player championships, and Team Race, wherein participants are divided into two teams, with the winner determined by those that accrue the most points. The VIP mode elects one player per team as a VIP vehicle, who must be protected at all costs from the opposition cars, with the removal of the VIP car resulting in a win for the attacking team.

Driift Mania also uses ‘Contamination’ where a player is marked contagious and must contaminate very other player within a set period, while the ‘Cold Potato’ mode charges the user with collecting said vegetable and holding on to it for as long as possible! Finally, the ‘Meteorite’ option sees players embarking on a normal race, while trying to avoid a series of meteors as they fall from the sky.

Tales of Monkey Island (1000 Wii Points) *1 Spieler*
Adventure
ign score: 7.0 || 8/10 bei nintendolife.com

The episode's biggest weakness is the clear lack of any kind of grand finale. While the music swells once you leave the island, the finale lacks epic triumph and the denouement amounts to a cliffhanger, leaving more questions than answers. And there are plenty of questions to be answered as the designers have planted plenty of seeds for future installments. So episode 1 gets high notes for bringing us back into the Monkey Island universe, but at the same time, it looks like we'll have to wait for the rest of the episodes to roll out over the next four months or so to get all the answers

Bonsai Barber (1000 Points) *4 Spieler*
Simulation
ign score: 8.0 | 8/10 bei nintendolife.com

If you've got the cash to spend, I would definitely recommend you pick up Bonsai Barber because it is a game that I believe epitomizes the WIiWare model. Simple, accessible, wholly original software. In this case, Zoonami has built a title that is unique to the point of surrealism. And yet, I'd be a liar if I indicated that becoming a virtual barber and giving trees and plants fashionable foliage cuts wasn't a fun task made more enjoyable by smart controls and a humorous presentation. The only significant complaint I can level at the game is that it's pricey, especially given the fact that when you strip away the bells and whistles, you are essentially performing the same task over and over again without variation.

Revenge of Shinobi (Sega Mega Drive) (800 Points) *1 Spieler*

It may have taken quite some time to get here, but the Virtual Console release of The Revenge of Shinobi is an event which should be celebrated with considerable gusto. This is a game developed when Sega was firing on all cylinders both creatively and in gameplay terms, and is thoroughly deserving of being called a solid-gold classic. If you’ve experienced its charms previously then chances are you’ve already downloaded it; if you haven’t then you’re in a for a real treat.
