Super Punch-Out!! (SNES) 800 Points
Fighting
keine ign-Wertung | 8/10 Sterne bei VC Reviews

http://www.vc-reviews.com/images/screenshots/14835/large.jpg
Super Punch-Out!! has a whopping 16 opponents, each with their own unique moveset. You’ll find familiar faces like Bald Bull and Super Macho Man, but most opponents are totally new, and some of them are even crazier than the characters in the previous – For example, there’s Bob Charlie, the Bob Marley look-a-like, and Masked Muscle, the Mexican luchador who tries to blind you by spitting in your eyes! Multiple other opponents also seem to forget the rules of boxing and attack with their feet, weapons and even their hair, so watch out!

Graphically the game still looks great today – The characters all have a ton of animations which help their obvious stereotyping even more. Musically the game is also much improved. Instead of having just one fight song like Punch-Out!! on the NES, there are now four different ones – One for each circuit. Each opponent also has their own short theme song which plays before the match.

Overall, Super Punch-Out!! is a great sequel. It really only improves on what was already there, being careful not to screw anything up. If you liked the NES game you can do absolutely no wrong in downloading this.

Damit will uns Nintendo wohl auf Punch-Out Wii!!! vorbereiten ;) .

The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask (Nintendo 64) 1000 Points
Action-Adventure
9.9 (N64 Version)

http://images.nintendolife.com/screenshots/16254/large.jpg
After ending the terror in Hyrule, Link sets out to find another quest to complete, but on his way he stumbles into the wait of another evil force. Link awakens in a dazed and confused state, missing his Ocarina and his horse, and seems to be cursed. To make matters worse, Termina, the world that he has ended up in, is on the verge of being of destroyed by a mysterious moon which seems to be coming down towards the Earth. It is up to Link to save the day again.

Time travel and mask hunting are much more important than in Ocarina of Time. Although there are only three days to complete the game, the player is able to travel back in time after retrieving the Ocarina of Time. Any items that were found and any quests that were completed are either saved or lost, depending on importance. Certain masks turn Link into powerful characters, each with their own advantages (like Zora Link, who can swim underwater for very long periods of time). Read More »

There are also plenty of sub-quests to complete and items to find, however the clock is always ticking away until the end of the world...

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Majora`s Mask spielt chronologisch nach The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time und wurde im Jahr 2000 veröffentlicht.

Unlike the vast majority of Nintendo's extraneous peripherals and specialty controllers from the past two and a half decades, the Balance Board that shipped with Wii Fit has actually gone on to enjoy continued acceptance and popularity since its introduction -- I opened this review by suggesting yours might be gathering dust, but it's also just as likely that it's been kept in constant rotation thanks to compatible titles like Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party and Shaun White Snowboarding. Equilibrio is just the latest in the continually expanding list of games to offer support for the device, and while this budget-priced WiiWare download doesn't perfect the concept of translating your body's movements into angle-adjusting input, and while it's fairly underwhelming both visually and in its amount of contained content, it's still fairly fun while it lasts. I can see where Wii Fit owners who've lapsed in their commitments to the game might like something like this five-dollar download as an incentive to get going with it again -- a simple, fresh and fun idea that'll get them back up and moving.

If you don't have a Balance Board, though, Equilibrio should be much less of a priority for you. The game controls well with the Wii Remote, and you can certainly enjoy it like that. But I don't think you'd enjoy it fully without the chance to stomp, shift and bounce your body to success on the screen.

Family & Friends is a mini-game compilation with decent production values and a good premise behind what is being offered. The main issues are lack of depth, absence of originality, unbalanced difficulty in some of the challenges, absence of Wi-Fi play, poor audio effects and its steep asking price. At 1000 Wii points this game feels overpriced compared to its competition. While it aspires to be more than a budget WiiWare title and succeeds in shrugging off the shovelware status some might have attached to it, there isn’t enough innovation and gameplay depth on offer here. This is a great party to take your family and friends along to, but sadly the entrance fee just isn’t realistic.

Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars (Master System) 500 Points *keine Empfehlung*
Action / Jump'n Run
5.0 | 3/10 Sterne bei vc.nintendolife.com

http://images.nintendolife.com/screenshots/15016/large.jpg
Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars isn't all bad, as its simplified gameplay and toned-down difficulty likely made it a favorite of some of the youngest Master System players back in the late '80s. But today it simply stands as a disappointment, and the mark of the moment when SEGA's Master System mascot, in just his second appearance on the system, began to go downhill fast.

In his recent retro review of the game, our Retro channel editor Levi Buchanan (a huge Alex Kidd fan) even declared that he wished this game wouldn't come to the Virtual Console -- for fear of it spoiling the opinions of new fans who found the series through the VC release of the far superior Miracle World. I'll support his assessment, and recommend steering clear of this one. If you're spending 500 Wii Points on an Alex Kidd adventure, make it Miracle World. Don't waste your time on The Lost Stars.

Crystal Defenders R1 (800 Points) *1 Spieler*
Strategie
ign score: 5.8 | 7/10 Punkte bei wiiware.nintendolife.com

http://images.nintendolife.com/screenshots/14916/large.jpg
The core Crystal Defenders series is a blast, but with that being said it’s hard to recommend the Wii version to anyone but complete newcomers of the series, and those that don’t have an Xbox 360 or iPhone to use instead. The game only includes 13 levels, is simpler than the iPhone (and original Japanese cell phone) inspiration, and has about as many units and special attacks as world one of the three-world package that’s available on Microsoft’s system or iPhone/iPod Touch. 800 for what’s basically tutorial and a couple levels is a bit much, and if R2 is another 800 point purchase – which it seems to be – that could potentially be $16 for two slightly smaller cross-sections of a $7.99 game on a cell phone. It doesn’t make use of Wii’s controls, it’s a shorter experience overall, and while still very fun inherently, this is a far worse deal than anyone else is getting across any other system thus far. It may not be a cell phone port like on 360, but it’s actually far less content than one. The music, graphics, and core design are all taken from the source material, but are still very strong for a download offering. What isn’t there, however, is the core bulk of the experience. Here’s hoping R2 is offered as a free download, as R1 is really just a simpler reimagining of the first third of the original Crystal Defenders, and costs just as much as the full game’s $7.99 price point on iPhone/iPod Touch!

Overall the experience is pretty entertaining, and at a price point of $6 it’s tough to pass up. With that being said, players expecting too much might be let down, as the game is three tracks total (basically 200 points a song, which is the same as any Rock Band DLC really), and it’s all about replaying them and getting better scores. If you’re into retro gaming though, and if the style and sounds of Bit.Trip Beat have intrigued you enough to follow the game – or if you find yourself interested now – it’s a great buy. There are some oddities to it, considering its simplistic nature and very basic visuals, but it’s also a great game to boot up for a few minutes between other titles, and a great first step for the Bit.Trip franchise.

The original Rainbow Islands was a great arcade game of its time, with a bold art style, addictive gameplay and a sometimes unforgiving difficulty level. Sadly, Rainbow Islands loses the distinctive graphics, and although the gameplay resembles its predecessors on the surface it loses a lot of the elements that made it a superior platformer: there’s little difference between the stages of the tower, particularly compared to the original’s variety of themed worlds, and the removal of the static screen boss fights in favour of a constant climb just makes the game exhausting. Without wishing to sound like the kind of grumpy gamer you’d expect to object to this harmless update, Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! is a classic case of “if it isn’t broken, don’t try to fix it.”

You must destroy the large creatures in each world before moving on to the next. Other small creatures that happen to pass by make your task more difficult. If you destroy a large creature, they will drop a dollar bill, which you can pick up and use at the shop to buy items and powerful weapons such as laser beams, x-way shots, and big wings. Another way to get money is to shoot certain kinds of enemies all in a row. Read More »

More often than not, some large creatures will reveal a warp gate rather than a dollar bill. You can go through the warp gate to get to another part of the land, and destroy more large creatures. Only one of them will have a warp gate in the form of a 'stop' sign - that is your ticket to the round boss, but you must defeat all large creatures in order to pass through it. Also, like in the original game, you can walk on the ground to avoid approaching enemies, and spend money in the shop to get new weapons (but they only last for a limited time).

After de Blob and now Swords & Soldiers, Ronimo Games is definitely a developer to watch. There is nothing else like this on WiiWare, and the production values are much higher than most other games on the service. Strategy fans should find their fix here – just don't expect as deep an experience as some of the better-known real-time strategy games on PC. Removing a dimension and making the gameplay side-scrolling was a great way to get this genre working on a console. Swords & Soldiers was built for Wii, and as such it plays very well on the system. Don't let this one pass you by -- it's one of the best console RTS games ever.

Counting Craig's take on the 2001 Game Boy Advance re-release and Levi's recent retro review of the 32X edition from last December, this is the third time that IGN has featured a review of Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure. And though I wanted to like this game more, thanks to my own rose-tinted memories of it in the context of the '90s 16-bit platformer craze, I can't disagree with Craig and Levi's past assessments -- it's bland. Overly animated and plagued by control troubles, with unattractive and confusing level designs. Pass this one by, unless you're just an incredible Pitfall fan. In which case you'd be forgiven for wanting to just get at the unlockable 2600 edition buried inside this release.

Other than those few changes, everything else remains the same. Very simple interface and style, and no IR control for selecting units – only Wii-mote on its side, which isn’t too intuitive – which baffles me after seeing the iPhone game get an update for touch. It’s obvious Square knows how to make the game the right way… the company was just lazy with Crystal Defenders on iPhone until people complained, and that laziness transitions over to Wii where we’ve never seen a content update in any game on WiiWare, and I don’t expect one now. Come on guys. Is it really that tough to make it the right way the first time? You’re Square, so I know the answer is “Nope, it really isn’t.” Pretty lame. The graphics are decent once again, and there’s just enough fan service in there to make this one easy on the eyes and ears. It’s just a shame there isn’t more content to be had, as R2 is just like R1 before it. It’s a chunk of an $8 download, sectioned off into multiple $8 downloads. Bad form.

Maybe that's why board game conversions have found more of a home over on Xbox's Live Arcade service -- there's just more effort put into them there. WiiWare developers have got to learn that players want more than the bare minimum here, especially when the system's capable of more. Give us higher end visuals -- the Wii can handle it. Give us the ability to play against opponents who aren't in the same living room with us -- again, the Wii can handle it. And, for goodness sakes, at least give your penguin characters a shot at personality by at least giving them names. It'd be much more fun to yell "Hey! That's my fish!" if I knew who I was supposed to be.

The second appearance of the Space Harrier series on the Virtual Console is just as disappointing as the first, and only highly nostalgic fans of this particular version should consider spending 500 Wii Points to download it. It's just unfortunate that that's the case, though, since Space Harrier is actually a capable classic game -- these emulated, downgraded ports just don't do the original concept justice. There is a more faithful conversion of Space Harrier that was released for the TurboGrafx-16 years ago, which could conceivably come to the VC itself some day in the future. And if it does, maybe it will prove to be more worth your while. But for now, stay away. Keep your Points saved for later, or else spend them on a different Master System title that doesn't make that machine look quite so bad.

Fans of the 16-bit Final Fantasy releases should find plenty to wrap themselves around in this continuation of the Final Fantasy IV storyline. The game offers quite a bit of length and game play for your 800 Wii Points, but having to purchase additional packs in order to enjoy the side stories is obviously going to rub some gamers the wrong way, especially considering that there are eight additional packs to buy in order to wrap up the entire story line. If you appreciate retro visuals and 'traditional' RPG game play then this is obviously a game you'll want to consider, but those of you looking for a more modern Final Fantasy experience might want to spend your hard-earned pennies elsewhere. The classic game play elements on display here might prove to be a bit too simplistic for modern RPG fans, even with the new game play additions.
