The mechanic is simple; just solve as many puzzles as you can, collecting gems of the same colour. The original board game is a blockbuster in countries such as Germany, where over 1,000,000 units have been sold. It also won many awards, including the Best Family Game award in Sweden and Game of the Year award in Norway and Finland. Game modes include the History Mode where you take the role of Kanu to defeat the followers of evil Rifictus, leading him to victory. Modes also include Quick Game and Time Attack where you focus on getting the maximum number of gems within a limited time. The Multiplayer Mode allows up to four players so get your friends involved in the challenge.

You have a large variety of equipment to help you with your task, plus the hero isn’t afraid of getting physical and kicking objects, climbing ropes and jumping to help him get to all areas. But time is definitely not your friend, as the fires get gradually worse and you slowly run out of breathable air! Different types of fire need to be extinguished with different methods, so you’ll need to use your equipment to the best of your ability to save the day.

Aim to use the fire engine and your team-mates to extinguish all the flames you can see! Can you keep your cool and save everyone in a constantly changing environment?

Chrono Trigger is, and will always be, one of the most unforgettable RPG experiences ever to grace a video game console. Even the first time you play it, you'll immediately know that you're experiencing something special that you're not likely to forget. Not only is every area top tier, it brings so many new ideas to the table that give it its unique look and feel. It might have been a long wait for the Virtual Console release, but it was certainly well worth it, and yet another testament to how truly remarkable a system the Super Nintendo console turned out to be for RPG fans.

But we're just days away from the launch of the Nintendo 3DS eShop and its new, second-edition version of the VC concept. So here, with this re-release of a title still rightly argued as perhaps the very best video game ever made, it feels right to call this chapter closed. So whether it continues to offer dozens more classics from yesteryear going forward, or if it really is winding down to its final conclusion, support the original Virtual Console with a purchase of this gaming great – it's a download service that has sometimes been frustrating to deal with, but at the end of it all it really has let us travel back through time.

Yard Sale Hidden Treasures: Sunnyville is a good buy for anyone into hidden object games as well as those looking to dip their toe into the water for the first time. It won't blow you away but it's an enjoyable way to pass the time, and the addition of short minigames help to spice up proceedings. For only 500 Points this is better value than some other games on the service, so if you feel like a few hours spotting hidden items then this is your best bet on WiiWare so far.

Airport Mania: First Flight is absolutely everything a WiiWare game should be: easy to pick up, deceptively deep and urgently addictive. The presentation is adorable and the challenge ramps up at the perfect rate, leaving you neither impatient nor overwhelmed. For 500 Points it's an absolute steal, and you'd be foolish to let it pass you by.

If you're after a German course on WiiWare, this is not it. If you want an interactive way to hammer home some basics, though, you could do worse.

Warum wird der Wii Shop bloß auf einmal so stiefmütterlich behandelt.? Es gebe noch genügend Klassiker die nur auf eine VC-Veröffentlichung warten (das Meisterwerk Yoshi's Island z.B.)...

Though this isn't a revolution in extra-curricular learning, it is an absolutely serviceable aid to encourage children to improve their understanding of the German language. Best enjoyed in sessions of one or two activities at a time, it's unlikely that kids will be picking this over Super Mario Galaxy, but it succeeds in making studying that little bit less dull.
