Telltale Games has offered up some salient details on the story that you'll experience in its adaptation of HBO's Game of Thrones TV series, due for release later this year. Telling the story of House Forrester, Telltale's Game of Thrones will take place during The War of the Five Kings, in which the house finds itself in a dangerous position.
The house must do what they can to prevent facing their doom, as the game takes previously unseen events from the end of season three of the TV show, and tells its tale leading into the beginning of season five. You'll visit locations like King's Landing, The Wall, and unfamiliar environments like House Forrester's home of Ironrath - where they serve as Bannermen to House Glover - and the house's noble home of Wolfswood, in northern Westeros.
If you've read George RR Martin's books, you'll know that the Forresters are canon, despite not appearing in the HBO show. You'll play from five different perspectives, each a member of House Forrester, or a person in service to the House across Westeros and Essos. Each of these five characters will endeavour to do their part in ensuring House Forrester doesn't meet its demise.
"Playing as five characters not only reflects the epic scope of Game of Thrones, but is also something that the player needs to be mindful of. This is because the actions of one character can ripple out to affect the rest of House Forrester. Multiply the actions of one character by five, and you're truly playing the Game of Thrones…where you win, or you die," reads Telltale's blog post on the subject.
Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series will be premiering soon with the first episode 'Iron From Ice', which will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC, Mac and iOS.
